KFC boneless banquets are selling on eBay with asking bids as high as €45,000

Ah, lads.

It’s been a few years now since the great UK chicken crisis first began.

Well, it’s really only actually been a few days but it feels like an absolute age because of the amount of time people have spent going on about it.

Since the fast food chicken chain announced that some of their stores would have to close due to demand and that certain menu items would not be available, people have gone a bit mad.

There’s been threats, anger, and declarations that people were going to have to go to Burger King now.

Imagine, the horror.

Another thing that has happened since the lack of fried chicken descended on the UK is boneless banquet boxes being sold on eBay.

On one of the boxes, the starting asking bid is, at the time of writing, €45,000.

Yeah, we know… and it’s got zero customs charges too.

If you’re not familiar with the KFC boneless banquet, it generally includes a load of boneless chicken, some fries, popcorn chicken, and either a gravy or beans.

A decent set up, if you’re in the mood for chicken, in fairness.

Clearly, the UK chicken crisis has hit the boneless banquet hard if people are literally bidding for the things on eBay.

The 45 grand box is surely a piss take (come on lads, it has to be), but even if it is, there are other bids happening right now on the exact same product.

One box is currently going for over €500 which, okay yes, is significantly less than 45 grand but it’s still more than we would be willing to pay for a boneless banquet.

We haven’t had to deal with the chicken shortage here though, in fairness.

KFC has blamed their new delivery service for the chicken issue.

“We’ve brought a new delivery partner on board, but they’ve had a couple of teething problems, getting fresh chicken out to 900 restaurants across the country is pretty complex!”

Will it ever end?
