Oreo Sushi is trending and we can’t wait to try it

Sarah McKenna Barry

Don’t worry, there’s no raw fish involved.

Over the last year, TikTok has become the one-stop shop for weird and wonderful food ideas, and the platform’s latest trend is no exception.

Oreo Sushi is currently doing the rounds online and we can’t wait to give it a go. Unlike your classic sushi options, there’s no raw fish, vegetables or rice involved. In fact, all you need is a packet of Oreos and some milk.

Everyone is trying out this recipe on TikTok, and there are plenty of variations on it as well. For the purpose of this article, we’re following TikTok user Joyful Bakers, but feel free to mix it up.

Begin by opening your biscuits individually, and scraping the cream on the inside out into a bowl. Add some milk to the scraped out insides, and mix gradually with a spoon until it looks vaguely like porridge. This will be your filling.

Meanwhile, pop the biscuits into a food processor and blend. Once the biscuits become crumbs, add in a splash of milk and blend again. You should be left with a paste which will ultimately act as your seaweed wrap.

Lay out a sheet of cling film, and pour the biscuit mix on top. Arrange the mixture out onto the sheet into the shape of a rectangle. Don’t be afraid to use your fingers at this stage. Take a rolling pin and roll out the mixture until it’s flat. Trim to ensure that your rectangle is neat.

Next up, spread a thin layer of the creamy mixture over the rectangle. Using the cling film and your fingers, roll the rectangle from right to left into one long Oreo sausage.

Slice the roll up into bite-size pieces, and your Oreo sushi is ready!

Chopsticks are optional.
