This restaurant’s newest dish is a box of just pizza crusts and we’ll take ten, cheers

Anna O'Rourke

The crust is the best part of a pizza and we’ll fight any man, woman or child who says otherwise.

We’re not afraid to say that pizza itself can be a little hit or miss sometimes – the tomato sauce is too hot, the toppings are unevenly dispersed, the base is soggy – but no matter what you get, the crust is always consistently crispy and delicious.

If, like us, you hoard your crusts until the end and then eat them one by one with lashings of garlic dip you’ll be heartened to learn that a New York City-based pizza chain is launching boxes of crusts.

Yep – people can go in, part with some cash and walk away with a box of just pizza crusts.

Villa Italian Kitchen says it came up with the idea after a “record number” of inquiries about their crust.

“We know that the crust is everyone’s favorite part of the pizza, so skipping straight to selling pizza crusts only seemed like the perfect idea,” said Mimi Wunderlich of Villa Italian Kitchen.

From next week, customers will be able to get boxes of crusts for $2.75, or around €2.45 – a steal for what’s are to be one of the most delicious things one could purchase.

It’s deeply upsetting to us that Villa Italian Kitchen is only on America so we’re putting out a call for Irish restaurants to start selling crusts too.

Dominos, Four Star, Papa John’s – who among you will be first to step up and give the people what they want?
