A vegan chef has gone viral on TikTok with her delicious plant-based carrot bacon
Never mind whipped coffees or feta pasta – we might have just discovered a new TikTok food hack that beats the rest.
When TikTok star Tabitha Brown recently took to social media to share her genius recipe for carrot bacon, it didn't take long for other TikTok users to test it out – and fall head over heels.
What is carrot bacon, you ask? Well – it is pretty much carrots pretending to be bacon – and with the help of some clever seasoning – it literally tastes like bacon – just much, much better. Smokey, maple-flavoured, crispy – trust us, even the most dedicated carnivore is bound to love these.
“Do you see carrots or do you see bacon?” Brown asks in the video as she holds up raw carrots. “I’m about to make carrot bacon uh-huh.”

According to Brown, the first step requires a peeler, which is used to shave the large carrots into thin slices (that sort of resemble bacon).
“Now you've got a few strips, but if you want more than this, then do that because that's your business,” Brown explains.
She then combines liquid smoke (you'll find it in Tesco), maple syrup, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and a sprinkle of pepper in a bowl and lets the carrot slices marinate in the mixture for about two minutes.
Then, she sticks the carrot slices into an air fryer for five minutes (but can use the oven if you don't own one) — and when it comes out, it is crispy, delicious and so, so tasty and ready for whatever you want to add them to – a salad, a smashed avo sandwich or pretty much anything else.
And it seems people really did love it – so far, Brown's video has been viewed more than 12.6m times – and counting.
