Even Kate Middleton is said to be a huge fan.

Look, we get it – salads are perfect summer food.

They are refreshing, healthy, and require no cooking, just chopping and assembly. What’s not to love?

The best thing about salads, in my humble opinion, is that there are endless options and variations to go for – in fact, you can pretty much eat salad every day forever more and still not run out of ways to change things up.

Lately, however, there is one salad, in particular, that seems to have captured the hearts – and palates – of everyone on social media – heck, it is so delicious that even royals like the Duchess of Cambridge are said to be a big fan.

Enter the watermelon salad – the most delicious thing to be eating on days when the weather is hot and the sun is shining.

A spokesperson recently told the Express: “Kate favours organic foods for lunch and incorporates as many raw ingredients as possible.

“Watermelon salads are a staple of Kate’s lunches.”

According to Marie Claire, exercise and nutrition experts at Barbend  also claimed the Duchess of Cambridge loves nothing more than a refreshing watermelon salad.

“Include juicy pink watermelon mixed with avocado, onion, cucumber, and feta cheese – the perfect mix of sweet and savoury.”

Viral salad

If you’ve spent a few hours scrolling through social media this summer, you have no doubt come across this salad before. In fact, videos with the tag #watermelonsalad have accumulated nearly 10 million views on TikTok.

It has not been confirmed exactly what dressing Kate serves with her salad, but according to Marie Claire, some predict it is a light dressing with apple cider vinegar, or balsamic vinegar, and even a sprinkling of leafy mint, although this area is left open for you to get creative.

Plant-based food blogger and cookbook author Ella Mills of Deliciously Ella also recently took to Instagram to share her version of this very viral salad:
