Holidays, here we come!

We all know the feeling of going back to college. Some of it we love. It’s great meeting old friends, making new ones, and we actually enjoy some of the classes (maybe not the 9am Friday classes, but some of them.)

Still. Whether it’s our first college year away, or we’d settled back into the comforts of home over the summer, some of the changes of college life aren’t so exciting.

Like, say, eating instant noodles or pizza every day. We didn’t think it was even possible to get tired of eating pizza but it happens. Or the weather. Things just get progressively gloomier as the first semester goes on.

So, of course, we love a bitta anything that will spice things up. And Iarnród Éireann are here to help us and our empty pockets out.

Next Tuesday, Iarnród Éireann are holding their “Build the Train Tracks” competition for students.

Basically, you have to build a set of train tracks and then get your train from the start of the track to the finish line. Sound simple?

Well, the winner of each race well receive some lovely treats. But, more than that, everyone who takes part in the competition has the opportunity to enter a selfie contest for an even bigger reward.

Take a pic of yourself playing the game and post it to the Her Twitter page, tagging @IrishRail, with the hashtag #dreamtrips. The person who posts the best selfie will win the extremely exciting grand prize of a weekend trip for two to Amsterdam or Barcelona. With accommodation included, because we are students after all.

And there’s more.

Iarnród Éireann will be giving out loads of goody bags on the day to anyone who takes part.

And all the people who get their train over the finish line first will win some Just Eat vouchers. Yep, you can finally expand your food horizons to more than just pizza. Or not. You could just get pizza.

To be in with a chance of winning, just come down to the UCD campus next Tuesday the 18th. Between 12-2pm Iarnród Éireann will be by the Library, in the main concourse area, celebrating Fresher’s week and looking for some quality track-builders.

So get building.
