Beyoncé’s dad, Mathew Knowles, has revealed his breast cancer diagnosis.

He will discuss his health issues in an upcoming Good Morning America interview set to broadcast today, Wednesday.

In a preview clip shared by the programme, he is asked by journalist Michael Strahan: “How was it to tell your family about the diagnosis?”

Prior to this, the 67-year-old also tweeted that he would be on the show making a “special announcement.”

Knowles is father to four children including Beyoncé and Solange Knowles.

The businessman and talent executive managed Destiny’s Child following their inception, working as a producer on many of their projects.

After Beyoncé first left the group, Knowles went on to manage the solo member’s careers.

His “special announcement,” due to be broadcast later today, comes at the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month – a time for recognising the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and for advocating for survivor and patient support.

Breast cancer in men is a rare disease, with approximately one percent of cases affecting male patients.

In 2019, it is expected that 2,670 men will be diagnosed with the disease. The lifetime risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer for men is thought to be one in 833.
