Knowles is father to four children including Beyoncé and Solange Knowles.
The businessman and talent executive managed Destiny's Child following their inception, working as a producer on many of their projects.
After Beyoncé first left the group, Knowles went on to manage the solo member's careers.
His "special announcement," due to be broadcast later today, comes at the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month - a time for recognising the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and for advocating for survivor and patient support.
Breast cancer in men is a rare disease, with approximately one percent of cases affecting male patients.
