10 Things… Her.ie Loved This Week

Things that made us happy in the week that was…

Rebecca McKnight

Oh hello Friday – we’ve been expecting you!

Here are some of the many things that made Team Her.ie happy campers this week…

Happy in Hybrid

Michelle took the new Toyota Auris Hybrid for a test drive this week and was loathe to hand back the keys. This sexy little number is the smoothest, quietest drive ever – and the fuel economy has to be seen to be believed. This one is firmly on the wish list.

Ladies’ Day Out

Rebecca and her mum headed along to Castleknock Hotel & Country Club this week and had a lovely day out. They started things off with hot stone back massages (which were SO relaxing) before filling their stomachs with afternoon tea delights. The only downside is that they now want a day like that EVERY week!

Made Up with Armani

Giorgio Armani National Face Designer Thoa Tran was in town this week for a series of makeup masterclasses at Brown Thomas. Cathy joined Thoa for a little colourful face fun and discovered that gold liquid eyeliner is the new must-have beauty buy. Seriously, this one is a game changer!

H&M for AW

We went along to H&M’s AW press preview earlier this week, where we checked out the stylish forthcoming offers from our fashionable Swedish friends. As always, H&M are bang on trend with plenty of bang for your buck. Some of the highlights for the September drop have a definite nod in the direction of the 70s… disco and ski pants are back, baby! I Will Always Love You

Rebecca, Mary and Michelle were at the Bord Gáis Theatre this week for the opening night of The Bodyguard. The beloved 90s movie hit the West End stage last year in musical form and now the show is on the road. Former X Factor winner Alexandra Burke takes the lead in the stage production and does musical idol Whitney Houston more than justice in a stellar turn as threatened singer Rachel Marron. The audience were on their feet before the performance even came to a close and stayed dancing for the entirety of the encore. This one is exceptional – you have until August 1st to see it in Dublin.

Sparkles and shine at Thomas Sabo

It’s been a busy week on the “look at all the pretty things” front. Earlier this week we visited The Marker hotel for the Thomas Sabo autumn winter showcase. As well as new charms and stunning stacking rings, the head honchos at TS introduced jewellery fans to a new line – the Love Bridge. These pretty bracelets are inspired by the love locks placed on bridges around the world by couples eager to mark their romance for the world to see. Cute!

Everybody Loves Cake

Our own Cassie made the Her.ie team a cake this week (after promising one for months). We can clarify this gorgeous creation was worth the wait. This office survives on cake, tea and dreams. It’s a good way to live.

Gavin & Ed 4Eva

Several members of team Her.ie will be making the trek to Croke Park this weekend, and it’s nothing to do with GAA. Ireland’s favourite adopted son Ed Sheeran has sold out two dates at GAA HQ and excitement is reaching fever pitch for the gigs. We’ll be getting in nice and early this evening though, as another ginger singer on the bill deserves just as much love. We’ll take any excuse to listen to Gavin James. Now turn this one up nice and loud…

Queen of the Castle

Our Megan was pampered to within an inch of her life at Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa this week. She got to try their special “aromathero-tea” treatment – a luxurious facial with chamomile, rose and orange flower. It was all fluffy dressing gowns and afternoon tea – she really felt like she’d had a proper holiday after just a one-night stay.

G-G-G-Galway!

Our Marie headed to Galway this week for the Galway Arts Festival. Sinead O’Connor may have cancelled her gig on the Thursday night, but no matter because John Grant was still on the bill and more than made up for any disappointment with a performance that rocked the City of the Tribes.
