You’re back home after two weeks sunning yourself and eating to your heart’s content. These common post-holiday phrases are bound to crop up.
This time last week we were…
… sitting in the sun/drinking cocktails/swimming in the sea – it was lovely but it’s done now, we all need to get over it.
The time just flew
Two weeks at home can feel like a lifetime. Two weeks on holiday always feels like a minute.
Can’t believe it’s back to work tomorrow
Yea, but if we didn’t have to go to work, holidays wouldn’t be such a treat.
I’m SO burnt
Followed by “it will turn to tan in a few days” or “somebody please pass the Aftersun.”
Was that THAT night?
Be it a big night out (because alcohol was so cheap when you were away) or the night of the food-poisoning, there’s always one night that becomes “THAT night.”
The milk just isn’t the same there
Which is why you had five cups of tea within the first hour of being home.
It was too warm
We Irish aren’t built for warmer climes.
Was the weather nice here?
If the answer is no, we’re secretly smug. If the answer is yes, we’re secretly raging.
Oh god, the thought of doing the washing
Don’t. Just don’t.
I want to go away again!
The only way to beat the post-holiday blues is to book another one.
