You can have your DCU's and your Trinity's, you can even try and convince us that DIT is a wonderful place, but the fact of the matter is that there is no better college than NUIG. Well for the craic anyway. If you were lucky enough to grace it's fine halls during your time at college, you can consider yourself blessed. From Corrib Village to Smokey the pigeon there's a lot of things that will remind you of your time in the best city in the Wesht. Here's our list of 11 things everyone who went to NUIG knows to be true. 1. Trying to get tickets to the Arts Ball was like trying to win The Hunger Games. It was a very real and a very traumatic struggle. via GIPHY 2. The big question that divided the student population, Karma or Carbon? No matter where you went out there was never a discussion over where you went for food afterwards. 3. Blackboard was your favourite lecturer. The magic words you longed to hear...'The notes are going to be on Blackboard.' 4. All your plans were based on meeting at one place. We have no idea what it is, but it was pretty handy for meeting up for lunch. 5. Donegal Tuesday is the most important day of the year. First year parties in Corrib were great and also slightly terrifying. They made the film Spring Breakers look tame. via GIPHY 7. What's GMIT? I'm sorry, who? 8. Having tighter security in the library than the nightclubs in town. The librarians guarded that place as if it were Fort Knox. Even if you got in you were never guaranteed a seat or a PLUG! 9. The heartbreak that occurred when they cancelled Rag Week. It was a dark, dark time for us all. I would rather not talk about it okay? via GIPHY 10. Telling yourself it doesn't matter if you fail because you can always repeat in August. Realistically it's a bit late to start studying for them now, isn't it? I know, I'll just wait til August and study really hard all Summer. Famous last words. Come August... 11. Trying to find a job with your Art's degree after graduating. So your degree in Exploring the Indigenous Arts and Celtic Civilizations might not have been the best idea as far as future job prospects are concerned but at least you got to do it at NUIG.
