5 Tips To Help You Get Rid of That Hangover

From relaxing music to eggs...

Rebecca McKnight

It’s a bank holiday weekend so there’s a high chance that at some point during the last three days, you’ve been hungover. Perhaps, you’re feeling a bit rough at the moment.

Well, look no further because we’ve got a few things that are believed (note: not all of them are scientifically proven) to help ease your self-inflicted pain…

1. Relaxing Music

According to Lifehacker, Dr Alexander Mauskop of the New York Headache Centre believes that a few nice tunes are as good as painkillers for curing headaches. While there is no scientific explanation behind this theory, it is said that songs can help take your mind off the pain.

2. Pear Juice

A recent study by a group of Australian scientists found that pear juice reduced memory loss and sensitivity to light and sound and even managed to slightly decrease alcohol levels in the blood.

3. Water

One of the main consequences of a heavy night out is dehydration. And of course the best way to tackle this is by drinking water… a lot of water. Alternatively, another researcher said that drinking more alcohol is the way to go. (We wouldn’t advise the latter.)

4. Sleep

While it’s not always possible to have a lie-in the next day (due to work and the likes), sleeping through your body metabolizing last night’s drinks can mean that you wake up feeling a bit fresher.

5. Eggs (any which way)

Eggs may have a beneficial effect on reducing the effects of a hangover because they contain an amino acid called cysteine which breaks down the toxin acetaldehyde, produced by too much alcohol consumption.
