When it comes to the seven deadly sins, here in the Her.ie offices, we will put our hands up and admit that we are all guilty of at least four or five of them – in fairness, who doesn’t get a bit greedy when they walk through a particularly fine shoe department?
But did you know that the seven deadly sins as we know them are set to receive a modern day transformation? Yes, gone are the days of wrath, envy, greed, gluttony, sloth, lust and pride.
According to some new research, which was conducted by television channel CBS Reality, pride and lust are no longer considered to be shameful and instead the number one sin of modern times is racism.
Following on from racism, the six other modern-day sins are domestic violence, tax evasion, trolling, obesity, binge drinking and homophobia.
All real problems, but we think obesity should be struck off here, mainly because many people who are obese suffer from underlying medical causes.

Are you guilty of any of the modern seven deadly sins?
86 per cent of the 2,000 people who were questioned in the survey openly admitted to committing at least one of the traditional seven deadly sins, meanwhile only 21 per cent admitted to binge drinking.
“The research has really opened our eyes as to the strength of public feeling toward some of the biggest issues today,” said Sam Rowden, the Director of Programming for CBS Reality.
What do you think? Do you agree it’s time that the traditional sins were given a modern-day makeover?
