An ‘airline for millennials’ has been announced… and we’re confused

Have you ever flown on a plane and thought ‘god, this airline just isn’t catering to the specific needs of me, the average millennial?’

No, us neither.

But somebody somewhere must have done so, because Air France have just gone and announced the introduction of their newest airline – aimed specifially at millennials.

‘Joon’ is the airline’s latest venture that seeks to “meet the requirements and aspirations” of Air France‘s young working clientele.

According to the company’s website, the life of a millennial (or anybody who fits their 18 – 35 year old age bracket) revolves around technology.

The new airline has apparently been designed to reflect this, ensuring that passengers can stay connected to the world while they fly.

Air France say that:

“Joon is a lifestyle brand and a state of mind. Short, punchy and international, the name Joon is designed to address a worldwide audience.”

The airline are yet to release any specific details about what their new millennial flights will actually entail, but judging from the many, many references to our obsession with technology and connectivity, we can only assume that there’ll be WiFi on board.

Sounds alright, but still, is this enough to launch a whole new airline specifically for millennials?

Maybe Air France are planning to make these flights extremely cheap? That would definitely be more in line with the millennial experience that so many of us are accustomed to – which is not having a whole lot of money.

But no, according to the company, “Joon will not be a low-cost airline as it will offer original products and services that reflect those of Air France.”

Ah, never mind then.

While Air France seem very excited about their new brand, we’re having trouble getting, *ahem*, on board with the idea.

A “global travel experience” sounds great and all, but if the only difference is a funky design, and “chic” flight attendant uniforms, we’ll probably just stick with Ryanair.
