An American Waitress Was Refused A Tip Because She Wasn’t “Normal Looking”

Ah here.

Ellen Tannam

In the US, many servers in restaurant depend on the generosity of their customers tipping to earn enough cash to make a proper living.

One such server, Taelor Beeck from Iowa, was ripped off on a tip because of her pink hair. That’s right, Beeck’s neon pink locks caused a customer to withhold a tip from the waitress who works at Zombie Burger.

Spotted on Mashable, the note read simply: “Tips are only for normal-looking people.”

Beeck said; “At first, I felt really upset. I felt attacked. I felt like I was in middle school all over again, like being bullied.”

However, she’d decided not to release the names of the people who refused to tip her, and has no interest in speaking to them anout the incident. She said she would rather not respond at all.

The owners of Zombie Burger have released a statement standing by Beeck, saying that they celebrate her right to present herself in a unique way.

“We believe that Zombie Burger is a place that celebrates individuality,” the statement reads in part. “We stand by our staff.”
