This is good news for viewers on the go!
Aertv, an Irish online TV platform, has just launched its first
iOS TV application giving consumers free access to all the broadcast channels in Ireland on the go. This is the first time that RTE and TV3 will be together in an app that is available without having to subscribe to a paid service.
The online TV platform currently offers all of the Irish terrestrial channels for free on its basic package with consumers able to access up to 26 channels including premium channels, such as BBC, on
Aertv Plus for €5.99 per month. These packages are now accessible on the iPad and iPhone app with free download from the iTunes store. Magnet broadband customers can also access up to 34 channels, including MTV and Comedy Central, through the new Aertv app. Of course, the launch of 4G in Ireland means that services like this one will be an even more attractive option for Irish consumers.
Philippe Brodeur, director of Aertv said, “We’ve always been committed to providing our users the best value possible in all of our offerings. Apps have been part of the strategy; it’s what our users really want and we are very excited to be able to deliver on our promise now. With 3,000,000 having been willing to access us on a browser, we think it’s going to blow everything out of the water for us.”

With most of us living life on the go nowadays, consumers are increasingly using mobile devices for accessing their own TV experience and in this price-conscious marketplace, many are abandoning pay-TV subscription packages and opting for cheaper “over-the-top” online streaming services such as Aertv and Netflix, making the launch of this app is a great addition for consumers.
Aertv have embraced the shifting change in the television industry by capitalizing on audiences need to have TV when and where they want. Consumers enjoy the controllability of Video on Demand but it is the live TV experience that still connects people. The Aertv app now makes that experience even more accessible.
Aertv is powered and owned by Magnet.ie which offers up to 70Mb Fatpipe Fibre broadband services. Magnet.ie recently reached a nine-month consecutive milestone in Netflix’s Irish internet service provider speed index as the fastest network in Ireland.
The Aertv app is available to download now in the iTunes store here. Android app is coming soon.
