One of the first ever Apple computers to be built was sold for €715,655 in New York last night.
The computer went up for auction last night and fetched the massive sum when it was bought by the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan. The computer is an Apple-1 and was built by Steve Wozniak in 1976.
He built the computer by hand in Steve Jobs’ garage and according to auction house Bonhams, it has now become the most expensive computer relic as it fetched nearly double its estimate price.
“We are thrilled to have broken the world record for its sale, and are even more thrilled that it is going to a wonderful new home at the Henry Ford Museum,” said specialist Cassandrra Hatton.
The computer is still working and has a vintage keyboard and monitor.
