Unreal!

With all the devastation and sadness we’ve been seeing and reading, it’s always nice to see a good news story.

The lovely Audrey Hamilton, artist and queen, has managed to raise €20,000 to donate to the Australia bushfire fund.

On January 6th, Audrey announced that she had created 275 limited edition Koala prints, and would donate 50 percent of the sales to WWF Australia.

In the original post, she wrote:

Introducing KOKO! KOKO is here for a very special reason. With all the devastation currently happening with the bush fires in Australia, and the courageous men and women working tirelessly to protect their land, people and wildlife, I wanted to do something to help. There are over 500 million Australian wildlife who’s lives have been taken by these fires and a near extinction of the iconic species the Koala Bear. (95% gone!)”

“Let’s help make a difference. With 275 limited edition prints of KOKO in total (in various sizes) I am donating 50% of all sales to the WWF-Australia Organisation. If you would like to place an order please email me on [email protected] let’s help save the beautiful Australian Wildlife!”

And now, fast forward a couple of weeks, and all of the limited editions have sold. Incredible.

Earlier today, Audrey shared the brilliant news on Instagram, announcing that she had raised a whopping €20,000.

On behalf of myself and KOKO, we would like announce that we have raised a total amount of €20,000 ($32,250) for the @wwf_australia bushfire fund. I honestly cannot believe it guys,I’m so overwhelmed with your generosity towards helping the Australian wildlife through KOKO. It is thanks to each and everyone of you who purchased KOKO that we can send such a large amount of funds from our small island to help with the devastation caused by the fires in Australia. I wanted to find a way of helping somehow, through my art. In the hopes that all of us could come together and raise what we could to help, and in doing so also have a piece of art to hang proud to remind us that we’ve helped make a difference! And so I painted KOKO, released a limited edition run of 275 archival pigment prints and in under 2 weeks, completely sold out! I am a small self employed irish business and I really never thought we could send over this amount of funds. You have all honestly blown me away, thank you to each and everyone of you so so much for your contribution and know you have each played a part in helping save the Australian Wildlife that have been injured through the fires and also help to restore their lost forests! The donation to @wwf_australia is on behalf of myself and all of you. I hope you each love your KOKO, he is very excited to head off to his new forever homes! #kokosjourney #wwfaustralia
