American period drama Boardwalk Empire will be finishing up after its upcoming season five.
Show creator, Terence Winter confirmed the end of the popular series this Thursday.
"After much discussion with my creative team and HBO, we've decided to wrap the series after such a great run and look forward to bringing it to a powerful and exciting conclusion," he said, in a statement.
The HBO show was a group collaboration series between Martin Scorsese, Terence Winter and Mark Wahlberg.
"It has been an incredible honour to bring this powerful and groundbreaking series to our subscribers” said HBO president Michael Lombardo. “Terry Winter has created one for the ages."
Boardwalk Empire has scooped up multiple Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes since its beginnings in 2010.
