Despite its incredible success, Brendan O’Carroll is going to kiss goodbye to Mrs Brown’s Boys next year.
The comic who writes the show and plays the foul-mouthed mammy has revealed that the next series, which is the third, will be the last.

Nobody could have predicted the success that the show has had.
Speaking to the Irish Daily Mirror, the 57-year-old said: “This series, the third, is the last Mrs Brown I’m doing for TV.
“That’s it done. I think that’s enough. No matter how funny you think you are people will get a pain in the arse with you…I just think it’s important you don’t flog it to death.” If only some other show creators thought that way!

Behind every great man: Brendan's wife, Jenny Gibney.
However O’Carroll also said that it won’t be the last you will see of Mrs Brown: “Having said that I won’t rule out a comeback in a couple of years time but at this moment three is plenty.”
He also suggested that there could be a few Christmas specials of the award-winning show which has won over audiences both here and across the water. Of course, there is the big screen version to look forward to as well.
This success is something that O’Carroll says he never expected: “We’ve pulled in 8.3 million viewers in the UK and one million viewers in the Republic of Ireland. It’s just been amazing.”
