The replies to the thread agreed with the bride and said that you wouldn't ask the "priest to do a baptism" if he was officiating the wedding and overall, it's bad form to make such a request a wedding of all places.
If the question came from a wedding guest, it probably wouldn't be as bad but when it's from a bridesmaid, you can understand why the bride might be annoyed with one of her closest gals making the day about herself.
