Buckingham Palace staff get a Christmas present from the Queen but it’s not great, tbh

Jade Hayden

Would you be bothered?

Christmas is good for a few different reasons.

There’s food, there’s drink, and there’s a bit of time off from work. That’s it really.

Well, there’s the above and then also your Christmas bonus, if you get one.

Because honestly, there’s not much better than a sexy little bit of extra cash or a hefty voucher to put a spring in your festive step over the holiday season.

Not all employers offer a Christmas bonus though, but you’d probably go ahead and assume that most of the big companies and the well off ones would.

A decent bonus at that too.

Luckily for the staff of Buckingham Palace, the Queen does offer a Christmas bonus or, rather, a Christmas present.

But, to be honest, it’s a bit shit.

According to WalesOnline, the Queen asks her staff whether they’d like a gift token or a book token… to the steep amount of £35.00.

Yeah, honestly. About 42 quid in Euros from Her Majesty herself.

Bit stingy?

The disappointment doesn’t end there though because some more junior members of staff have even admitted to getting vouchers worth a measly £28.00.

You don’t even get one if you haven’t worked there for more than a year.

Merry Christmas, indeed.
