A business developer has condemned women wearing leggings to work and people are not impressed

He is facing a backlash...

Earlier this year, we had the delights of an article called How to Talk to a Woman Who is Wearing Headphonesa guide written by Dan Bacon of The Modern Man.

The bizarre guide instructed men, step by step, how to get a woman’s attention while she was listening music, not respecting the personal boundaries that many people prefer to keep.

The latest in bizarre guides written by men has surfaced, written by recruiter, blogger and business developer Andrew Martin, on LinkedIn.

He penned a letter, giving 5 whole reasons why women shouldn’t wear yoga pants to the office and rightfully, it has outraged a lot of people.

He begins his trash helpful advice by opening with a introduction on yoga pants.

“Yoga pants are comfortable. Yoga pants are convenient. Yoga pants never need to be ironed. Yoga pants have great utility and allow you to perform almost any activity. And if you are like most people, you probably look good wearing yoga pants. But yoga pants are not what you should wear to work in a professional environment. Let me give you five reasons why you may want to re-think the yoga pants during your 9 to 5.”

He continues to outline the different ways yoga pants are bad (which we women already know of), essentially mansplaining the item of clothing that is a pair of yoga pants.

“1) Yoga pants may be damaging your skin. According to dermatologist Dr. Lauren Ploch, you should only be wearing tight, non-breathable material for about an hour at a time. Non-breathable pants like yoga pants can prevent your sweat glands from draining properly. This can lead to skin rashes, folliculitis, and fungal infections. This can also lead to vaginitis and yeast infections for women according to Dr. Michael Eidelman. Keep this in mind when considering what you will wear for 12 hours.

2) Yoga pants tell the world that you don’t care about your job. The argument that you want to wear yoga pants because you can “wear what you slept in” makes the same case against them. If someone walked into the office in pajamas or boxers, you may conclude that he/she didn’t care much gaining respect at the office. Consider that most employers – including military, high-end restaurants, and hospitals – require all employees to wear uniforms because of the respect certain clothing says to coworkers and customers.

3) Yoga pants put excessive emphasis on your body (especially since they are often sheer). Is your workplace really the place you want to show off your glutes? You can wear what you would like to work, but what you wear is a signal to other people about who you are. (I am not saying that what you wear gives anyone the right to disrespect you; I am just making an observation.)

4) Yoga pants make you look younger than you are. This point is primarily directed to people age 18-35 (who are more likely to wear yoga pants to work). In general, young people in the office have difficulty convincing older people that their opinions are valid and worth considering. You don’t want your boss to make comments about how much you are like his/her grandson or grand-daughter.

5) You will have more difficulty performing your job well. This is true for two reasons. First, you will not take yourself seriously if you wear athletic clothing to a professional job, because few others will take you seriously. You exude a casual vibe when you wear yoga pants. That is fine when you are trying to relax, but will create confusion when you are trying to gain the attention of a coworker or client for a serious topic. Second, you will have difficulty differentiating work time and play time in your mind. This was my problem for years. Now I dress for the occasion, and I work better.”

People took to Twitter to reply to the sexist, objectifying article which angered many women.
