Calling all artists and illustrators – this competition is for you

Laura Holland

Ever wanted to design your own gift card? Well now’s your chance.

A new One4all ‘Design a Gift Card’ competition has been launched and this year it will be judged by street artist Joe Caslin and fashion designer Helen Steele.

The search for Ireland’s up-and-coming creatives is on as One4all launches its annual ‘Design a Gift Card’ competition. Now in its fifth year, the competition gives artists the opportunity to get national exposure for their designs. The winning design will be turned into a gift card and sold in An Post outlets and online at www.one4all.ie next year.

This year’s theme is ‘Happiness’ and One4all are calling on budding artists, illustrators and designers to design a unique gift card inspired by the theme.

The 2017 judging panel consists of internationally acclaimed fashion designer, artist and printmaker Helen Steele, and esteemed street artist and art teacher Joe Caslin who has drawn attention for his thought-provoking murals including ‘Cladagh Embrace’, the same-sex marriage mural which appeared on Dublin’s South George’s Street.

Not only will the winner see their gift card design sold through One4all’s retail network, but they will also receive a MacBook Pro. The top five runners-up will each receive a €100 One4all Gift Card of their design which will also be available to purchase one4all.ie.

Speaking about the competition, Joe Caslin said:

“It’s important to see One4all recognising emerging Irish based talent and giving these visual artists, designers and illustrators access to their retail network. This is a great opportunity for fledgling careers to be showcased on a national stage and I would encourage their interest and involvement!”

Closing date for entries is 11th May 2017. For further information on how to enter the competition and specific guidelines visit www.one4all.ie/design.
