You can get a bomber jacket for your dog from Aldi

Sarah McKenna Barry

Run – don’t go on walkies – to Aldi.

Our dogs deserve the very best, no one’s denying that. We give them the best food, the most cuddles and the comfiest spots on the couch, even though they’re not really supposed to be there in the first place.

Some dogs (not all, of course) are also partial to a little jacket to keep them as snug as a bug in a rug, and if you reckon your pooch would look swell in a little bomber jacket, then Aldi have what you’re looking for.

That’s right, the European supermarket have just released a range of bomber jackets designed to keep your doggy warm on cold winter walks.

These jackets come in two reversible colours – one in navy and red, and the other in blue and orange. For smaller dogs (XS – M) the jackets cost €9.99, while larger jackets (L – XL) cost €14.99. The jackets are not only padded, but water repellent, meaning they’ll keep your furry companion nice and cosy, even on bitter cold days over the next few months.

Bear in mind that while some dogs don’t mind wearing an extra layer in the colder months, jackets are nor appropriate for every breed. According to the website PetMD, it is no harm to put dogs in jackets if they have lighter layers of fur, particularly if they appear reluctant to venture outside in warm weather. However, larger dogs with dense fur may be uncomfortable and even at risk of overheating if you put them in additional layers.  If you have concerns, always check with your vet.

The new jackets form part of Aldi’s winter pet drop. Other pet items landing in store include a luxury pet bed (€14.99) and plenty of cat and dog food and treats. Naturally enough, the pet bed’s liner is made with faux suede and plush lining, because, after all, they only deserve the comfiest of naps.
