The festivities have passed, the decorations are down, and the resolutions are set, now it's time to dispose of your Christmas tree.
Luckily, many local authorities nationwide have facilities across January to correctly dispose of your tree, some of which are at no cost.
Once you've made your peace with the fact that Christmas is over for another year, find out where to dispose of your tree below.
Dublin City Council are providing a free Christmas tree disposal service at a selection of centres, civic amenity sites and local drop-off points from January 6th to 21st January 2024.

Cork County Council are providing a free Christmas tree drop-off service at several civic amenity sites from now until January 31st, 2024.
The following locations will be accepting trees on select dates and times.
Unless otherwise stated, facility opening hours are 9.00am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm.

Christmas trees are taken free of charge at several recycling centres and civic amenity sites across North and South Tipperary after Christmas at appointed times.
Please check the opening hours of your local drop-off point before bringing your tree to:
Galway County Council is accepting Christmas Trees for recycling from January 6th until 13th, 2024.
They will be accepted free of charge at the normal hours of the following sites:
Householders can drop off their Christmas trees for recycling at the following locations free of charge between the 4th and 18th of January, 2024.
After January 18th, the following recycling centres will accept Christmas trees for a small charge.
Real Christmas trees will be accepted for recycling free of charge at Kyletalesha Landfill Site until January 27th, 2024
Please remove all lights and decorations beforehand.
Artificial trees will go into landfill.
Christmas Trees will be accepted at Navan, Trim, Kells and Thornton’s Dunboyne Recycling Centres for shredding from December 29th.
They will also be taken at the following locations during office hours:
Christmas trees can be brought for shredding as mulch to the following locations in Kildare from Wednesday, January 3rd until – Sunday, January 21st, 2024.
Real Christmas Trees can be recycled at any of the below Civic Amenity Sites:
A recycling ticket is required to use this service (you can also bring a car load of recyclables with your ticket).
Tickets for a small car/van are €3.50 each and are sold in books of four – for the full list of places to purchase tickets and material accepted at these recycling centres follow the link here.
All Civic sites will be open Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays from 8am to 4pm.
Closed lunch from 1pm to 1.30pm (except Roscommon).
All Civic Amenity Sites are closed on bank holidays.
A Christmas Tree disposal service will be available at the Manorhamilton and Mohill Civic Amenity Sites in Co. Leitrim on the following dates:
January 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 19th, and 20th
Friday: 11am - 2pm and 3pm – 6pm.
Saturday : 9am - 1pm and 2pm - 5pm
**The cost is €6.00 per tree, however, if there is more than one tree, personnel at the gate of the Civic Amenity Sites will inform members of the public of the cost for disposal **

Mayo County Council’s Civic Amenity Centres - Derrinumera and Rathroeen - will operate under the following opening hours over the Christmas period.
