The Cold and Wet Weather Is Set To Return This Week

Rebecca McKnight

You’d be excused for thinking that the summer was on its way, what with the reasonably mild and dry weather we’ve been having lately.

But we have to break it to you that this week will see the return of cold temperatures and heavy showers.

According to Met Éireann, tonight is expected to turn chilly with temperatures falling to between 0 and 4 degrees Celsius. Isolated showers are also forecast.

Tuesday will start off sunny but heavy showers will arrive in the afternoon and it will be quite cool during the day with highest temperatures around 7 to 10 degrees Celsius.

There will be a risk of frost on Tuesday night and the wet conditions will continue into Wednesday with some showers falling as hail and thunderstorms a possibility.

As for the end of the week, Thursday is expected to be cool, wet and windy with Friday seeing heavy downpours and possibly sleet or snow on mountain tops.

It is said that this wintry weather will persist over the weekend which means your Bank Holiday plans could be out the window!
