These are the most common excuses used by friends to break plans

We've all heard one of these before.

Laura Holland

We’ve all heard one of these before.

We all have that one friend who always breaks plans last minute. Sometimes they actually have an excuse, but other times you know they are lying through their teeth.

But of all the lies, which are the ones you hear most often? Turns out that when it comes to cancelling plans, people can be quite predictable.

A recent survey found that the most common excuse for breaking plans was ‘feeling unwell’ or being ‘too tired.

We’ll hold our hands up and say that sometimes you are just too tired, so we would actually prefer someone to say that rather than pretending to be ill.

According to Refinery 69, the study, which was conducted by OnePoll for Evite, found that almost half of the 2,000 people surveyed didn’t see a problem with breaking plans.

Furthermore, half of the group also admitted to making plans that they knew they wouldn’t see through.

Here are the most common excused used by friends:

1. I didn’t feel too well
2. I was too tired
3. I forgot about it
4. I had a family emergency 5. I didn’t want to be around people
6. I had something better to do
7. I didn’t want to spend money
8. I thought it would be boring
9. I would rather just watch TV at home
10. I had a headache
