A sports shoe company had to apologize after one of their recent advertisements, featuring a dead dog, caused controversy.
The Pearl Izumi ad shows a runner, wearing their new trainers, performing CPR on his seemingly dead pet followed by the caption: “RUN LONGER.”
After it featured in Canadian Running Magazine last month, the American company faced criticism from both readers and animal rights organisation PETA.
As well as admitting on their Facebook page that they “made a mistake” Pearl Izumi also issued an apology and has removed the ad from future publications.
They said: “We would like to sincerely apologize to everyone for the ad that ran in Canadian Running Magazine.
“As most of us here at Pearl Izumi are dog owners, we want you to know we would never, ever do anything to harm an animal.”
