This inspirational couple left This Morning viewers in tears

This Morning

These two are amazing!

Ah, nothing beats are gorgeous love story – especially when the odds are against those in love.

The gorgeous Tommy and Maryanne Pilling made an appearance on This Morning on Friday, and made an impact.

The couple, who have Down Syndrome, shared the story of their love – and there were tears lads.

Maryanne and Tommy first met in 1990 while working in a local training centre for people with disabilities.

They explained that fate brought them together because they shared the same passion for cooking so they both were helping in the kitchen. It soon became clear that something special was beginning to happen.

They began dating and 18 months later Tommy decided he wanted to propose to Maryanne. They spent as much time together as they possibly could, spending alternate weekends at each other’s homes.

Three years later they married in 1995 and Tommy moved into Maryanne’s family home with her family.

The couple now live alone in a flat next door to Maryanne’s mother, Linda, and are “more in love than ever”.

However, it wasn’t always unicorns and rainbows for Maryanne and Tommy.

Maryanne and Tommy received backlash for their relationship, and so did Linda, for aiding their love.

“Other parents couldn’t understand why I was willing to take it as far as I did. But they had an official engagement for four years followed by the huge white wedding they wanted.”

They were told by a number of doubters that the relationship would not last.

This Morning

And yet, here we are folks… 23 YEARS later.

So I say “jog on” to anyone who doubted the love Tommy and Marryanne share!

I’m not crying… you are.
