Save money and do some good for the world around you by using simple measures to conserve energy in the home. If you’re not sure where to start – don’t worry! We’ll be bringing you one great energy-saving tip every day for the next few weeks.
Dress up your water tank
One of the easiest ways to save money and energy in the home is to kit out your water tank with a smart, new jacket.
If you have an uninsulated hot water sylinder, chances are you’re needlessly frittering away heat that could be used to get your water boiling faster.
In order to save energy (and save those all-important euros) invest in a special jacket for your hot water tank. A tank jacket will set you back about €20 and, once you slip it on, it could save you up to €60 a year on your water/electricity bill.
While you’re slipping on your tank jacket, it might also be worth your while taking the time to insulate any exposed hot pipework around the cylinder and around the boiler.
Remember, a toasty tank will save you money. Put a jacket on it!
