A dog who accidentally shot his owner has been forgiven for being a Good Boy.

Tex Gillian was hunting jackrabbits near his home in New Mexico when one of his dogs got their paws stuck in the trigger of his shotgun.

The 74-year-old suffered an injured lung, three broken ribs, and a broken collarbone after Charlie, the Rottweiler, accidentally shot him.

Gillian, however, has said that he forgives his dog because he is “a good dog” and he “didn’t mean to do it.”

He told ABC News that he thought he had been shot by a sniper.

He said: “I thought, who was that? I was there, isolated, nobody was around.

“It’s an interesting story, a dog shot a man! (Charlie) didn’t mean to do it. He’s a good dog.”

Once Gillian realised what had happened, he phoned emergency services and was transported to hospital where surgeons determined that it would be safer to keep the bullet inside of him.

Police are treating the incident as an “accident.”
