We know we’re not alone in this one – the green pepper just doesn’t taste as good.
You’ll chop the red pepper into a salad, use the yellow pepper for an omelette, but that green vegetable is going into a stir-fry, curry or any other overall dish where you add in all the food that’s about to expire.
But we’re not just being picky – it turns out there’s a reason that green pepper just doesn’t taste as good.
According to The Huffington Post, the green pepper is actually an unripened version of other peppers – meaning it gave a bitter aftertaste, and causing indigestion.
There is a plus side for those that don’t mind the stronger flavour.
Green peppers have a longer shelf-life as they can continue to ripen at home – but they’re also a cheaper pepper to buy individually due to their less favoured status.
So, you’re not being picky – you just have definitive tastebuds.
