Haesindang Park, colloquially known as Penis Park, can be found on the east coast of South Korea, overlooking some really exquisite tropical shrubbery and stunning panoramic ocean views.
There are approximately 50 different shaft statues in the park, varying in size and composition. Some of them are animated with funny faces, while others are made to resemble the male member exactly.
The idea for this rather unusual theme park came about as a result of a local legend.
The park is entirely dedicated to a local myth known as the ‘Legend of Auebawi and Haesindang’. Story goes, a women was waiting for her fella on a rock in the sea, when she drowned and died.
After this, the locals were unable to catch fish until one day a fisherman took a piss in the sea and as if by magic the fish returned.
Locals believed that the dicks delighted the dead sea virgin so much that she allowed the sea to be repopulated.
As a result, they began to make phallic carvings and host ceremonies in her honor, so that she would allow their families to live comfortably again.
In this day and age, the locals of Haesindang still pay deference to ancient rituals. The place where the woman died, known as Aebawi Rock plays host to a biannual religious ceremony.
