Experts say there is a specific age at which you should stop buying Ikea furniture

We say never!

We say never.

Ikea is a godsend. The affordable, easy to build furniture has been a life-saver for many homeowners and renters over the years. That’s without even mentioning their pots and pans, fairylights and homeware.

So when an expert says there is a specific age at which you no longer use Ikea products, we’d have to disagree.

However, they are basing it on customer data, so they may be on to something.

Experts at lending site Earnest have analysed responses from over tens of thousands of its users, and found that 34 is the age we stop buying from Ikea.

They even put together a graph which shows how age affects their shopping habits. It says that as people get older and are more likely to buy homes, they are also more likely to shop at home improvement stores.

They also say that the most common age of Ikea customers is 24. This would imply that there is a ten-year time frame at which people rely on the Swedish store to decorate their homes.

While we’d love a hand-crafted wooden coffee table by a talented carpenter and some bespoke lampshade by someone in a market in France, the convenience and price of the Ikea products are hard to beat, so we’ll probably always head to Ikea for something, even if it’s just lunch boxes and frames.
