Fancy doing a good deed today? Then why not get in touch with the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre. The Centre is in urgent need of some telephone counsellors and support personnel and is looking for new volunteers who are willing to help them out.
The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre has been providing support to victims of sexual violence for years now. They take calls from everyone, regardless of age, creed, gender, ethnic group or sexual orientation and are always happy to sepak to worried friends and relatives.
They provide a service that is much-needed and in order to keep offering that support, they need volunteers to offer up their time.
As it stands, the Centre is looking for volunteers to train as:
Telephone Counsellors: This means that you will help to staff the Centre’s 24-hour counselling Line outside of office hours.
Support Personnel: This means you’ll be available on a rota bais and offer support at the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit in the Rotunda Hospital.

Volunteers are needed to help staff the DRCC's 24-hour helpline
You don’t have to have any special skills in order to volunteer and full training will be given to selected applicants. There are just two conditions: you must be a minimum of 25 years old and you must live in the ‘01’ telephone area.
If you’re interested and would like to get involved then contact the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre for an application form.
You can visit their offices at 70 Lower Leeson Street, Dublin 2. You can give them a ring on (01) 661 4911 or you can drop them an email at: [email protected].
The closing date for volunteer applications is Friday 22nd February 2013. For more information about the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, visit their website by clicking here.
