Fancy doing something a little different for date night or with the girls?

Alison Bough

Life is a cabaret ol’ chum, so come to the Cabaret.

So go the immortal words of Liza Minnelli’s cabaret host Sally Bowles. If you’re a fan of the movie, musical theatre, or just fancy a break from the Friday night norm we have some good news for you…

Cabaret is alive and well this summer at Number Twenty Two on Dublin’s South Anne Street. Every Friday in May and June Birdcage Cabaret will bring you back in time to the heyday of the New York, LA, Parisian and Berlin Cabaret scenes. The show stars the cast of Ich Liebe Dich Cabaret! who were one of the hottest tickets of last year’s Tiger Dublin Fringe Festival.

Different themes each week mean you can choose from the likes of C’est Cabaret, a Parisian inspired show complete with cancan dancers. New York, New York features big musical numbers and feathered showgirls, and Tinseltown gives a vintage nod to old Hollywood glamour and show tunes. This Friday, the ever-popular Film Fatale group’s Kit Kat Kabaret features a classic cabaret show, aerial dancing, burlesque and dance ensembles set to a soundtrack of hot jazz and cabaret solos.

If you fancy making a proper fancy-pants date night out of it, you can watch the show with a three-course à la carte meal and table service so you don’t even have to take it in turns to go to the bar – winning. Why not go mad altogether and stick around for Late Night at Number Twenty Two where you can strut your stuff under a vintage disco ball?
