Farting is embarrassing, end of. However, the fact is it happens everyone and we need to just get over it. That's what the folks at MIC found out when they asked 125 people, in their 20s and 30s, to see exactly what they thought about farting etiquette. When asked "how long would you have to be dating someone before you could fart in front of them?", the results were:

• 29% said they felt comfortable with farting after going out with someone for six months
• 25.2% sais it took two to six months before they felt it was okay to let off a stinker (Ewww we know but there's no nice way of saying it)
• 22.4% leave the room if they feel one coming on
• 9.3% said it takes a year before farting in front of your other half is permitted
• 10% said they would let rip whenever the hell they felt like it

MIC also asked those surveyed "at what point in your relationship, do you think farting is a good idea?"

• 33.3% said that once you're comfortable to stay over at each other's homes, farting is graaaand
• 19% said they could fart once the other person had done the same
• 7% said 'I love you' had to happen before they could feel farting was okay
• 7% said that farting was not okay, under any circumstances

If you're not sure what you think of this whole survey, expert advice says that when you're completely comfortable with your partner, your relationship can only get better. Clinical therapist Robert Huizenga has a marriage blog which you can check out here and he agrees with this view. "Farting in front of your significant other means you feel free to move beyond your roles. "You may even find yourselves discussing family roles and expectations that you bring to each other.
