We love to read at Her.ie and throughout the years we have fallen in love with more characters than we can count. Bestseller buddies have kept us company through the best and worst times and sometimes we wish that they weren’t so fictional! Although this is an unfortunate truth we’ve come up with a few of our favourite characters we wish were real.
Dumbledore
We have been waiting for our Hogwarts acceptance letter for over a decade and now that we’re grown ups we have to face the sad fact that it’s never going to happen. Sob. The best wizard in the world would surely teach us some tricks of the trade. We really would love to be able to clean up our room with the flick of a wand, straighten our hair by muttering a few spells and transport ourselves from Dublin to The Bahamas in an instant. The nightly feasts at Hogwarts would be grand as well. Sure, we could just magic off the extra pounds!
Mr. Darcy
The handsome, classy and loaded Mr. Darcy would be a perfect suitor for us. We don’t think we’re as touchy as Elizabeth Bennett but 21st century men might just have made us immune to insults. A man who looks after your sister is always a keeper and the fortune would keep us in beautiful dresses and bonnets forever.
Matilda
Matilda’s know it all attitude might grind our mathematically challenged gears but her ability to shift objects around with her mind might come in handy. She could open the lock when we’ve forgotten our keys, pour us a glass of wine with her eyes and really freak out mean ex boyfriends by moving their car around parking lots while they are shopping. We’re happy to hang out with her as long as she leaves preppy Miss Honey at home.
Peeta Mellark
We love peacekeeping Peeta in The Hunger Games because we can’t resist a juicy love triangle. Peeta’s willingness to sacrifice his own life for the girl he loves pulls at our heartstrings just a little but the fact that he is an expert cake decorator is much more admirable in our eyes. If we weren’t so useless at everything involving the outdoors we might even volunteer to take Katniss’ place.
Charlotte the Spider
The intelligent spider would be a great secretary. She could answer the phones on speaker and write out the messages in web for your return to the office. It would cut down on staff costs and make more office space. We can do without her disgusting sac of eggs at the Her.ie offices, though. Why did Wilbur even bring them home from the fair?
‘I’m a 29-year-old woman and my income would shock my friends if it was made public’
