Every week, for our ‘Food High Five’ series, we’re going to talk about food that has great health benefits.
This week, we’re looking at foods that prevent or reduce bloating.
Bloating is a common problem and while you might not like talking about it, you probably do want to prevent it. Speaking of which, here are some foods that can help with that.
Parsley
Parsley is a natural diuretic (it helps to produce urine) which means it is great for preventing a bloated tummy so get adding it to your recipes as soon as possible.
Yoghurts
Probiotic and cultured milk products are brilliant for keeping your digestive system ticking over which means you will be regular and bloat-free.
Bananas
Potassium-rich foods, such as bananas, regulate the fluid balance in your body which reduces your chances of stomach cramps and bloating.
Unsalted Nuts
Be it almonds or cashew nuts, unsalted nuts are full of protein and keep you fuller for longer which not only stops you snacking but reduces your chances of bloating.
Watermelon
Despite the fact that watermelon is full of water, it actually helps to prevent bloating. Cucumbers are the same so stock up next time you’re at the supermarket!
