Research says having fresh flowers in your home is good for your health

Olivia Hayes

We love a bunch of flowers.

Whether you get them as a gift or get them for yourself there’s nothing more lovely than putting fresh flowers in a vase and leaving them on the kitchen table or in your room.

They brighten up the place and it’s mad how adding a bouquet of flowers instantly make your home feel more alive.

However, they’re not just good for your home, they’re good for you too.

A recent study published in Complementary Therapies In Medicine saw research being carried out on people who recently had surgery and the results are really quite shocking.

In the study, 90 patients were split into rooms either with plants or without plants. Those with flowers in their rooms had lower blood pressure, lower heart rate, lower ratings of pain, anxiety, and fatigue, as well as more positive feelings and a higher satisfaction level than those with no flowers in their room.

The flowers in particular that were tested were roses and the study came to the conclusion: “These findings indicate that visual stimulation with roses induces physiological and psychological relaxation.”

There you go. Next time you need to relax, buy a bunch of roses on your way home.
