Grab the gals because we have just found our new favourite spa weekend spot

It’s idyllic really.

Look, we’re saying it right up: you can never have too many spa days. The only thing better than a spa day is a spa weekend. Life is stressful and you gotta do what you gotta do to deal with that stress. We, personally, choose the spa life every time.

The trick is finding the right spot and, let us tell you, we have found it. We recently took a little trip down to Galway and stayed in The g Hotel. First off, this hotel is stunning. It was designed by award-winning hat designer Philip Treacy, so it was always going to look fab, but even so, it blew us away. One of the dining rooms is entirely pink.

Side note: The men’s toilet is in the pink room and the women’s is in the blue room and we are loving that rejection of gender norms (go on, g Hotel!).

Our room was beautiful and the bed was SO comfy, but what we were really looking forward to was our little spa treatment. And, ladies, it did not disappoint.

While you’re waiting for your treatment, you can take a trip to their Thermal Suite which has a vitality hydro pool, complete with water therapy jets and jacuzzi effects. It also has a crystal steam room, a rock sauna, rain showers, an ice fountain, and heated loungers. Divine.

When you’re finished up in there, you head up to the relaxation room which overlooks their rooftop bamboo terrace so you are literally surrounded by trees while you relax. We did not want to leave but at least we were leaving to get what ended up being the best massage ever.

We opted for their ESPA signature treatment, which included a back, face and scalp massage. The massage began with a calming little footbath while we chose our preferred treatment oils. It also included a hot stone back massage, which was everything we needed and more.

There are loads of different treatment options to choose from and all their ESPA products are almost entirely natural so you don’t have to worry about any unpleasant or irritating chemicals going on your skin. They also use their ESPA products in their hotel rooms (no subpar tiny shampoo bottles here).

The whole experience was wonderful and we felt rejuvenated for the rest of the weekend. We were so relaxed that we didn’t want to move too far from the hotel so we took a quick trip to the cinema which is right next door (so handy!).

We seriously recommend booking a little spa weekend in at the g. Or if you’re heading down to the Galway Races and feel like you need a little relaxation after the excitement of the week, you know where to go.

If you’re ready for your next spa break and want to check this out, all of their different spa treatments are listed on The g Hotel website. Our divine Signature Treatment massage cost €190 but you can get other treatments from as little as €35-€55. There are treatments aimed specifically at men too if you’re bringing your partner along with you.

Give yourself a good chunk of the day to try out the whole spa experience and take your time in the Thermal Suite – this is not something you want to rush through.

Enjoy your relaxation, ladies, you deserve it.
