Galway is getting its first rooftop garden and WE ARE THERE

Cathy Donohue

Bring on the summer.

The days are longer, the sun is FINALLY making an appearance and we’re already planning a gazillion different road trips this summer.

One might just have to be in the City of the Tribes (I’m biased alright, being from there) because not only is there a new gin bar, a rooftop garden, serving wine and prosecco, is also opening this summer.

56 Central is soon to open its redesigned Buddha Garden and as it’s located on Shop Street, right in the middle of the city centre, it’s sure to be a prime summer dining spot.

To be fair, it rains a lot in Galway but when the sun shines, there is nowhere better – a stroll on Salthill, a drink in O’Connors and a wander along Quay Street for some grub.

Given that 56 Central holds in-house live acoustic sessions, boozy brunches, iced coffees and flatbread pizzas not to mention a very varied menu, this is one spot firmly on our summer staycation radar.
