Great news: The Galway Christmas market will return next month
Time to organise a festive trip with your mates.
Aside from bring named Europe's Capital of Culture for 2020 and one of the best cities to visit next year too, there's another reason to visit Galway because their beloved Christmas market is returning for the festive season.
Despite the fact that it's only October and we're not yet ready to start writing about the Christmas season - it's still too early - the return of the Christmas market is extremely good news for anyone that's already planning their social calendar.
Galway Tourism have confirmed that the festive market will be running from Friday, 15 November to Sunday, 22 December.
Last year, the Galway Continental Christmas Market received over 650,000 visitors and there were more than 50 wooden chalets located in the heart of Eyre Square.
The 2019 Christmas Market is the tenth year of the market and visitors can expect to enjoy a variety of entertainment, food, and stalls.
To make things even better, this year will feature amusement rides which includes a 32-metre high Big Wheel and traditional carousel.
Aside from this, there's going to be an Après Ski Bar, Santa’s Express Train, live music performers, puppet shows, storytelling, school choirs, and carol singing.
Of course, we all know that it's not Christmas without a visit to Santa’s Grotto - which will be run by local charities - while the popular Bier Keller will be playing host to various events throughout the market’s duration.
Food lovers can enjoy bratwurst, French pastries, pretzels, confectionery, crêpes, waffles, and loads of sweets.
For those that enjoy their beer, you can buy a stein at the German Bierkeller which also offers a range of traditional German beers, apple cider and mulled wine.
The market will also feature artisan food products and Christmas gift ideas from both local and European traders.
