Guy left perplexed by girlfriend’s harsh reaction over masturbation

Her

Aight ladies, real talk.

As I was trawling through the depths of Reddit I stumbled *cough, cough* upon a thread entitled ‘Masturbation/Sex’ that is getting a fair whack of traction. (pun intended)

Written by lionguild, a 26- year-old man, and troubled boyfriend who is so distraught over last night’s sexual antics that he took to the internet to seek relationship advice. His post is entitled

‘Girlfriend didn’t want to tonight, but upset that I masturbated after refusal.’

Here is what he said,

“This just happened and I am beside myself now as I am not sure what to think. To explain my situation me (26M) and my girlfriend (23F) of 9 months are heading to bed, once in bed I start cuddling/foreplay. I tell her I want her and she says not tonight. Which is 100% fine and is not the reason for this post.

No, the reason for this post is because after that, I was in no mood to sleep, to put it simply. So I take a moment to quietly go to the next room (computer room) and masturbate quickly. Proceed to clean myself up and then went back to bed. Once in bed I get the cold shoulder, I ask what’s wrong and she tells me she is mad at me. I ask if we can talk about it and she tells me she just wants to go to bed.

So here I am, back at the computer because I was unable to sleep. Not sure if I was being inconsiderate or what,”

Hhhmmmmmm, this is a tricky one.

Comments on the thread range from well thought out and sensitively articulated,

 to no holes barred justification,

to  common relationship issues over a  power struggle
to one that i’m not too sure would be welcome.

At the end of the day, this thread does raise some important issues.  How much sexual control can one partner hold over the other? If one person in the relationship is hungry, do they have to wait for the other one before they eat?
