So all of the heart emojis have different meanings

Well, this changes everything.

Cathy Donohue

No way.

Emojis make texting WAY more interesting and everyone has a selected few they use on repeat.

When it comes to the hearts, you probably throw in an odd one here and there but chances are you’ve never thought too much about what each colour actually means.

However, thanks to Instagram and the folk at Wired, I’ve been alerted to some interesting information about the uses of each emoji heart.

This research specifically applies to the emojis on Instagram but if you use the hearts when you’re messaging, you’ll be even more interested in their ‘meanings’.

Yellow

This one is all about the love, it indicates happiness and can be used when chatting about spring too.

Green

This one is all about the organic healthy living, clean eating, hair, skin and nails and of course, it’s used for St Patrick’s Day too.

So technically, we have our own heart emoji, nice.

Purple

This one is often used when discussing makeup so beauty bloggers/vloggers will often add it to an Instagram post. It’s perfect when chatting about anything sparkly, shimmery, glittery etc.

Blue

This one is very specific and can be used when chatting about Autism Awareness Day and sports teams that wear blue. Personally, I love this one anyway as I’m obsessed with taking pretty sky and beach photos – this one is key.

Pink with sparkles

You’ve probably spotted this one, it can be used when people are trying to get more followers and to be fair, you do spot this emoji on spam posts a LOT.

Envelope with red heart

You can add this one to show you’ve bought something online

Heart inside other heart

This is all about the body positivity which is why this is one emoji I’m going to have on my radar in the future.

So there you have it, emoji speak sorted. Of course, we all use them whatever way we want to but it’s an interesting take on it all the same…
