Here’s the clever way you can get 10 days off work this Christmas

Better yet, you need to only use three days of your holiday allowance to do it.

Flagging at work? Dying for a holiday? Help is at hand.

The clever folk at the Liverpool Echo have studied the winter calendar and come up with a way for workers to get themselves 10 days worth of holiday over Christmas.

What’s better yet is, you only have to use three of your days of holiday to do it.

Driving Santa.

Santa drives a Saab now. Tell your mates.

As the newspaper reports, because Christmas Day is a Sunday this year, the Bank Holiday that normally gets attached to December 25th gets shifted to the next available date, which would be Tuesday 27th.

That means a large proportion of workers will finish work on Friday 23rd December and not have to return back until Wednesday 28th December.

Now a five day break is pretty decent, but as the Liverpool Echo recommends, if you book December 28, 29 and 30, you won’t have to return to work until January 3rd 2017.

Because not only is Christmas Day’s Bank Holiday getting shifted, but New Year’s Day gets its day off moved too.

Here’s how it works out.

Friday, December 23: Normal working day

Christmas Eve: Saturday

Christmas Day: Sunday

St. Stephen’s Day: Monday – Bank holiday

Tuesday, December 27: Bank holiday (carried over from Christmas Day)

Wednesday, December 28 – Normal working day – BOOK THIS OFF

Thursday, December 29 – Normal working day – BOOK THIS OFF

Friday, December 30 – Normal working day – BOOK THIS OFF

New Year’s Eve – Saturday

New Year’s Day – Sunday

Monday, January 2 – Bank holiday (carried over from New Year’s Day)

Tuesday, January 3 – Normal working day

All in all, you get 10 days off work and you don’t have to use up all of your holiday. Fantastic.

Book your days off now before the cat’s out the bag…

(Of course, if you work shift work/retail, you may have to be a bit more creative. Brb… praying for you.)
