If you’re super conscious about how you look when you’re diving into that burger in front of your other half or your elegant lady friends, you might want to keep reading.
Apparently, there is a scientific way to hold your burger so that it doesn’t fall apart and dribble all over the place.
Japanese experts in fluid mechanics, engineering and dentistry spent four months researching this. (IMAGINE THE NUMBER OF BURGERS THAT WERE EATEN!)
The researchers did a 3D scan of a hamburger in order to figure out “how the particles interacted with each other” and develop an effective holding position.
The answer: thumbs on the bottom and fingers on top. Also, you shouldn’t hold the burger too tight because that way, the contents will squeeze out (most likely onto your cream-coloured top).
If you are feeling really adventurous and order a burger with chips, they advise that you should have your chips before or after you’re done with the burger.
Think we’re going to have to put this theory to the test right away… anyone fancy heading to the chippie?
