HMV Twitter Account Is Hacked by Employees

Just when things couldn't get any worse for the company, this happens...

Rebecca McKnight

First HMV goes into administration (into receivership in Ireland) and now their Twitter account is hacked by the employees that are being let go.

The UK account @hmvtweets has been taken over today by those who are being fired as a result of the company’s financial problems.

They wrote: “Sorry we’ve been quiet for so long. Under contract, we’ve been unable to say a word, or -more important – tell the truth.” This was accompanied by another series of tweets (see below).

These were the first tweets from the employees.

It wasn’t long before the Marketing Director caught wind of what was happening and the earlier tweets started to disappear. However this didn’t stop the staff.

The tweets continued.

The angered employees then said that HMV had used an intern to set up the account before ending with: “So really, what have we to lose? It’s been a pleasure folks! Best wishes to you all!”

All of the tweets have now been deleted from the account.
