How to prevent ladders from forming in your tights

Hallelujah the day has come

Cassie Delaney

Ladies ladies ladies, forever are we bonded in the mutual hatred of tights.

They twist, turn, fall down and are a general nuisance. Worst of all, they are prone to tears and ladders.

It’s a phenomenon that has plagued us for years but at last, we have a solution, thanks to the good people at PureWow.

They say freezing your tights is life-changing. When you buy a new pair, basically run them under water until damp, stick them in a plastic bag and freeze them overnight.

Then, take them out and give them a day to defrost and thaw out. The trick strengthens the fibres of your tights making them less susceptible to tears later. Better yet, you only need to do this once – the effect is long lasting.

As for the falling down?

A few months ago we brought you another handy tight hack.

It involves knickers so bear with us.

The trick? Pop on your underwear, pop on the tights, then put on another pair of knickers over the tights.

The result? A comfy crotch and zero sag as you go about your business.

You’re welcome.
