Grace’s Choice: Music That Matters

Grace says: This week was easy. On Thursday, National Poetry Day was celebrated all over the world and paying homage to some of the greatest words ever penned, I decided to put together the greatest song lyrics of all time.

Blood, sweat and tears went into this, but here are 30 of the best lyrics from some of the greats… Yes, this will inspire you to make one epic playlist.

Cathy’s Choice: To The Zoo

Cathy says:  Lola, the little girl in this video, really made me smile. Although she gets completely confused by the nursery rhyme her Dad is trying to teach her, she doesn’t give up. Lots of enthusiasm and an adorable laugh, this had to be my favourite story of the week.

Michelle’s Choice: Air Rage, Comedy Style

Michelle says: Full disclosure; if the passenger described in this story was sitting by me, I doubt she’d have made it off the plane intact. I actually love flying, but there is always one obnoxious person on board with the ability to drive everyone else absolutely mad. Thankfully, this particular passenger was seated in front of Ryan Case, a writer for hit TV comedy Modern Family. Case’s in depth chronicle of the events on board left me in stitches, but I’m VERY glad I wasn’t on that flight.

Mary’s Choice: Children of the 80s

Mary says: I absolutely loved doing this week’s ’10 Things.. That We Miss About the 20th Century’… reminiscing in a land where Blur and Oasis ruled and Doc Martins were in all the colours of the rainbow made my week! Bopping along to tunes from the Spice Girls, Pulp, N’Sync, Backstreet Boys and Boyzone while chewing on a pack of Frosties for old times’ sake brightened my day right up!

Rebecca’s Choice: The Perfect Invention

Rebecca says: There’s nothing I love more than tea and/or toast… well there are but they are two of my favourite simple pleasures. So an invention that would allow me to make a cuppa and toast my bread at the same time is just amazing. Now I just have to find out when and how I can order one!

Liz’ Choice: Six Irish Lads On the Trip of a Lifetime

Liz says: I’m the first person to admit I suffer serious Facebook FOMO. When friends post pictures of holidays and sunshine, I always linger on the images of sun, sea and sand and then compare it to my usual Irish grey skies. I do plan on travelling, I just plan on doing some more stuff in Dublin first. Then I saw this video of Thailand, and well, let’s put it this way. I know where my first stop-off on the grand tour is going to be.

A group of six Irish lads – Tomas McCabe, Andrew Hayes, Sean Crotty, Kevin O Leary, Damien Holden, James Garvan and Fiachra de Londra decided to mark the end of their college days at UCC with the trip of a lifetime to South-East Asia. Trust me, you’re going to start looking up those flights about half-way through the video.
